History
- October 21, 1998: opening observatory
- April 8, 1999: telescope dome on 9m high tower with Zeiss from 1922
- August 2003: 2 permanent (municipality)
- 2025: threat of closure, reduced subsidies
- February 2025: opening planetarium
- August 30, 2025: auction of the large meteorite: Gibeon 240 kg (to save the observatory)
- September 1, 2025: rare 240-kilogram iron meteorite from Namibia sold for 1.7 million euros at an auction in Noordwijk
