Optical system Prototype : painted stars Dome: Its wooden base accommodates the truncated sphere (at -35 degrees... horizontal south of Chibougamau) which turns on itself presenting the starry sky of the four seasons. On the back shelf, an ultraviolet light lights up the stars which, after 30 seconds (light off) shine by themselves to achieve a simulation close to reality, and a red bulb with dimmer makes the lines of the constellations appear (painted in cadmium orange) until then invisible to black light. Made of snowmobile suit fabric, its 24 time zones are supported and stretched by 24 fiberglass rods.
